Image & PDF Viewer Widgets

Last updated

Both widgets show a file from the File Manager. Upload the file there first, then choose it with Browse, which walks the File Manager's folders.

Changing the picture with a tag

To show a different picture for each state of a machine — a green conveyor while running, a red one when faulted:

  1. Upload one image per state to the File Manager.
  2. Under Data Bindings, click + and bind value to the state tag.
  3. Under Image by Value, click Add for each state, type the value and Browse to its image.
  4. Set Image File (default) to the picture for any other value.

The first row whose value matches is shown. Values match as text, and also as numbers when both are numbers, so a tag reading 1.0 matches a row of 1. A boolean tag matches true or false. A row without an image is skipped. With nothing bound, or no matching row, the default image shows; with no default either, the widget asks for an image path.

For a drawing whose parts change color or move with tags, use a Symbol instead.

PDF Viewer

SettingDescriptionDefault
PDF FileThe PDFnone
Open at PagePage number to open atfirst page
ZoomFit page, Fit width, Actual sizeFit page
Show ToolbarThe browser's PDF toolbaron

The PDF is shown by the browser's own PDF viewer, which Chromium (used on the kiosk and most workstations) includes. Open at Page, Zoom and Show Toolbar are requests to that viewer; some browsers ignore them. A browser that cannot show PDFs inline shows "This browser cannot display PDFs inline." with a link to open the file.

Notes

  • Files are served without sign-in, so images and PDFs also work on public dashboards. Do not put confidential documents on a public dashboard.
  • Moving or renaming the file in the File Manager breaks the widget; choose the file again.
